Selinger wins medals at Para Canoe World Championships
Congratulations to Christine Selinger who is coming home from the Paracanoe World Championships with podium results, where she won a silver and bronze medal in V1 events and followed up with another bronze in a K1 event. The championships were held May 16 & 17 in Poznan, Poland.
Christine has had a very busy spring, which has included medal results at the Pan Am Championships and the national Paracanoe training camp in British Columbia in April. She is currently living and working in Toronto but is a member of Wascana Racing Canoe Club in Regina and is supported through the Saskatchewan sports system.
Aaron Rublee wins Olympic Trials
Wascana alumni Aaron Rublee won the Men's C1 200m event this past weekend at the Canadian Olympic Trials in Gainesville, GA. Aaron will go on to compete at the World Cup regattas in Poland and Germany. If Aaron is the top Canadian finisher at either event he will secure a nomination to the London Olympic Games! Congratulations Aaron!
Aaron trained and raced at Wascana from 2000-2006. He currently lives and trains in Ottawa, ON.

Congratulations to WRCC's Christine Selinger who will return to defend her World Championship title at the Paracanoe World Championships in Poznan, Poland from May 16 to 17. ?Great Job Christine! Spring Training Camp, Florida
Devri Roberston will be taking a number of Wascana athletes and some Saskatoon athletes to Melbourne, Florida again this year for the annual warm weather training camp. The intent of the camp is to prepare athletes for the upcomming racing season by getting back in to paddling form. Continuing to work on technique, specific endurance and strength are some of the goals of the camp.
The athletes and chaperone, Laura Soparlo, will be staying at the Atlantic Inn in Melbourne. Laura has been chaperone for the last three years and will be helping the athletes organize meals, with homework and weekly outtings when off of training.
Dates for the camp are as follows: 2 weeks from April 1 to April 15; 3 weeks from March 25 to April 15; 4 weeks from March 18 to April 15

2012 Fitdex, Saskatoon
On the weekend of February 11-12, 2012, Wascana and Saskatoon athletes will participate in Fitdex testing. This testing is part of the preparation for athletes attending spring training camps, usually in Florida.

WRCC World Cup Success!
Kia Byers of Regina had another successful weekend competing in canoe/kayak World Cup competition. Byers took 2nd place in B final of the women’s K-1 200m event, placing 11th overall. She was also a member of the women’s K1 200m relay team. The team went into the final with medal hopes after a strong result in their heat. However, due to a transition error in the 3rd leg of the race the team was unable to finish.
Due to her strong results in World Cup events Byers has secured a nomination to the team that will represent Canada at the Senior World Championships being held August 17 to 21 in Szeged Hungary.
Aaron Rublee, a former Saskatchewan athlete, also had strong results over the weekend. Rublee was a member of the C1 200m team that won a bronze medal. As well, he placed 12th overall in the C1 200m singles event.
